Stargate unfolds through saturated fields of blue that gather, separate, and shift across the moving image. Layers of light create the suggestion of depth and passage, while changing densities of color continually alter the apparent structure of the space.

Rather than defining a fixed destination, the work creates an experience of movement toward and through an uncertain visual field. Forms seem to open, contract, and recede, producing moments that suggest both vast distance and an intimate proximity to the image itself.

Part of Dolphin Brown’s continuing investigation into moving image as a spatial and perceptual medium, Stargate considers how color, light, and motion can create a sense of dimensionality without representing a literal place. The work remains deliberately unresolved: less an image of a gateway than an experience of continually approaching one.
