Held in the Current begins with the recognizable form of a lotus and gradually releases it from stillness. Through layered digital transformation, the flower emerges, dissolves, gathers texture, and reforms within a shifting field of light, color, and motion.

Rather than presenting the lotus as a fixed image, the work allows it to remain in a continual state of becoming. Moments of clarity give way to abstraction, while an integrated sound composition develops alongside the moving image, shaping rhythm, tension, and duration.

Part of Dolphin Brown’s continuing investigation into moving image, sound, and sustained perception, Held in the Current considers what it means for form to persist while continually changing. The work remains suspended between stability and transformation, asking the viewer to experience change as an ongoing condition rather than a transition toward resolution.
